STHE EFFECT OF MODULAR LEARNING ON THE ACHIEVEMENT OF GRADE 8 STUDENTS IN PHYSICS

Due to Corona Virus pandemic that the Philippines are facing right now, Department of Education and the National Government decided and implemented the use of distance learning for the students this school year. Which is a learning delivery mode where interaction takes place between the teacher and the students who are geographically remote from each other during instruction. This means lessons will be delivered outside the traditional face-to-face setup. Based on the survey, 7 out of 10 parents and learners would likely use modular learning approach because of lack of gadgets and other resources for online learning. This action research focuses on the study of the effectiveness of modular learning on the achievement and performance of selected group of grade 8 students in Science subject at San Roque National High School particularly in Physics.

According to George Lucas, “The one way the world hasn’t changed: Teaching is the most important job.” This supports the profession’s nobility—that without it there could be no other professionals around. This qualitative study assessed the social studies teachers’ proclivities to teach world history, by (1) analyzing their learning styles and their likelihood to teach using the brain quadrants; (2) describing the actual demonstration based on selected lessons in each unit of work, and (3) generating themes based on their values, expressions, impressions and written commitments. The study employed a typical case analysis of a selected cluster of Social Studies teachers, among the five city divisions in Cebu, who attended the Grade 9 Mass Training for Social Studies in summer, 2014. A researchermade-questionnaire, designed according to the Ned Hermann’s Brain Quadrants, was administered before the start of the training. Narratives on their challenging moments during the five-day training-workshop were generated, clustered and analyzed. Actual observations on their attendance, participation in break-out and plenary sessions and teaching demonstrations were also observed. Significant insights, expressions, impressions, and personal commitments were recorded. Their proclivities to teach world history before and during the training were consistent with their behavior and performance as shown in the actual planning and teaching demonstration on the KPUP Model of Teaching. Receptiveness, cautious assessment, holistic teaching, dynamic synergy, candidness, sincerity, and honest commitments were useful themes that consequently generated the values of self-regulation, extraversion, agreeableness and openness (Mirhashemi & Goodarzi, 2014) for the successful implementation of the K to 12. At the outset, not one of the groups in the cluster showed a perfect whole brain propensity to teach world history—a challenge that they needed to address right after the training. The concern for quality education has since been acknowledged as a tradition, a basic tenet subscribed to by the educational sector and the school system at all levels. The concept of quality is seen as a pursuit for academic excellence, a byword, a commitment that school colleges and universities uphold through a set of tools to assure quality and standards. It is quality that focuses on the students, and the teaching learning process that requires a high degree of resolve and flexibility. As it is, there is a continuing demand for quality in education that is equated with academic competence, a performance that can be at par with other graduates across countries because it offers the best opportunities for individual transformation and career growth. In the face of technological changes dramatically affecting school operations, education is now assessed in the light of students’ expectations of how well they can grow professionally and survives competition in the process. They have been critical of the kind of college degree that can pass the standards of quality learning adequate preparation and the sought after timeliness. It is in the perspective of continuous quality improvement that institutions, particularly the graduate schools have encouraged performance oriented investigations primarily aimed at identifying determinants of academic performance and acquiring knowledge of new and preferred teaching strategies that will bring out the best in the learners. While conditions and conventions within the environment are changing, researches have been conducted to pinpoint the factors that either impinge on the quality of educational outputs or contribute a high level of academic performance. There is therefore a felt need to anticipate implications of such to the institutions. At present there is a realignment of new educational requirements in support of the ambitious long-term goals of the Millennium Development that would bring about a renewed focus on academic excellence in all disciplines. With the emergence of knowledge societies there is an urgent call to include the school system and its components in particular, the faculty and students in the national priorities to achieve a competitive advantage. There have been innovations adapted in the area of instruction to prepare students for knowledge societies that will require learners to assess, adapt, and apply knowledge and in particular to access. For this reason, the benefits of computer assisted instruction have been studied. Moreover, others have focused on home factors, parental involvement, teaching styles, language proficiency and their implications on the level of academic performance. Along with these realities is the urgent call for educational institutions to do a rethinking of education that will provide the kind of instruction that offers valuable contributions in terms of educational experiences for improved academic performance.
The metrics of school performance is the quality of instruction that translates to the quality of graduates. They are the products of the educational system that meet the society’s expectations. To this end, the school provides a continuum in the learning process that would ensure the acquisition of desired learning competencies, higher quality programs for an improved level of performance, knowledge creation and eventually opportunities for career progression. Through the decades there have been unrelenting initiatives to improve the students’ academic performance, to address the issues on low turnout of quality graduates and poor performance in particular in the subject areas of English, Mathematics and Science. The quality of students that impacts on performance has been a recurring issue. Along this line, there is a need for rethinking the crucial role of teacher, home, community stakeholders, instructional facilities, discipline, behavior and environment in the academic performance, if learners are to grow and develop their full potential. It is performance that enables them to achieve a quality of life that can survive the effects of the confluence of environment, social, political and economic issues. Given an effective learning environment, they will eventually acquire a preparation that conforms to international standards. The continuous conduct of investigations related to performance is evidenced in a number of masteral theses in this journal issue that focus on factors affecting academic performance that include stakeholders’ involvement, educational facilities, classroom management, teaching strategies, home influence, community involvement, behavioral problems and parental support. Even the effect of multigrade classes on performance was explored. The studies are in keeping with the growing recognition of assessment initiatives to arrest the poor and deteriorating state of education, to institute quality control standards for performance and to address the issue of quality, access and equity. The success efforts to level up academic performance is acknowledged to be a collective responsibility of all those who hold stakes in education.

The study was designed to determine gains in student concept attainment using culture and language sensitive physics. Pangasinan learners of the Philippines were culturally profiled by determining the cultural dimensions, epistemological beliefs and students' views on integration of culture and language in the teaching and learning process. The unique cultural profile of the learners was used to design culture and language sensitive curriculum materials in physics. The designed culture and language sensitive curriculum materials presented physics lessons and activities using the traditions, beliefs, practices, artifacts and the native language. Implementation of culture and language sensitive curriculum materials was done to determine if integration of culture and language would result to better attainment of physics concepts of the experimental participants. Pre-test and post-test comparisons of the concept attainment of the experimental participants showed significant statisti...
The study combined qualitative approaches with quantitative research design to develop culture and language sensitive curriculum materials in Physics (CLS-CMIP). The curriculum materials are intended to aid students in meaning making when learning about Physics concepts and achieve conceptual change, meaningful learning and enhanced attitude in science while preserving and assimilating their local culture, traditions, practices and home language or mother tongue. Significant contribution of the curriculum materials can betraced to establishing and defining the constructs and categories on how curriculum localization andcontext-based science learning can be developed aligned with students’ expectations and beliefs. Thedevelopment process employed non-conventional processes adopted from literature which included pilotstudy to identify specific practices, traditions, beliefs and products of Pangasinan which still exist and of use to the people of Pangasinan which can be integrated and ...

Modular Instruction Essay
Nt1310 unit 1 assignment 1.
Figure 1 is a summary of the students’ learning throughout the learning segment. I administrated this test as a pre-assessment prior to the lesson one and administered it again after the completion of lesson 3. This test is a compilation of students’ learning and it demonstration how they met the standards and objectives that were set out for them to achieve. The evaluation criteria in which this assessment and all other assessment in the individual lessons did was not altered. Even though the students have different learning needs, the assessment met all of the needs for all learners. Each of the 20 students’ pre and post-test scores are listed along with the averages of each and growth for the whole class. Students were graded based
Two Critical Elements Of Instructional Scaffolding
Second, I would introduce a problem that the student might find interesting and excite their interest for the challenge of solving a long division problem. Third, I would model how to work through some long division problems with the use of material scaffolding in the form of the mnemonic device and guided examples mentioned in answer 4-B. Fourth, I would use the mnemonic device as a handout, and poster on a wall, to let practice my student practice long division problems with the mnemonic device as a reminder tool. The mnemonic device could be “Dad, Mom, Sister, and Brother,” which would stand for “Divide, Multiply, Subtract, and Bring Down.” I would also model and practice the guided examples with the student on a handout. Fifth, I would begin task scaffolding by walking through each step in solving long division using the mnemonic device provided above along with the guided examples. I would constantly refer to both the mnemonic device and guided examples as I verbalized the task. Sixth, I would also use modelling and practice to help my student understand the patterns in solving long division, and support his or her confidence in his or he ability to perform and complete the individual steps of long
Wanamaker Elementary Classroom Observation
There are other ways you can learn in the classroom, you can learn from the environment that is around you. This process is known as enculturation and it can affect and even enhance learning. Repetition is what really affects someone in a culture. By seeing, hearing, and doing things over and over they start to become part of who you are. From the class I observed I noticed that the teacher often used repetition as the way to get the students to learn and get the correct answer. She did not simply tell the student what was wrong or the correct answer when they were wrong, she simply just said that is not the correct answer try again. This taught the students that the correct answer will not always be given to them right away, that they must work until they get it themselves. This is a good example of enculturation in the classroom. The students are learning from the repetition of correcting the problem. The lesson from this repetition strategy is that the more you are engaged within a culture, the more you will start to pick up norms from the
Common Core Essay
Common Core is a set of standards that was put in place to make sure that every student is on the same level. It was created to get students ready for college and prepare them to face the global economy. But, has Common Core accomplished what it was put in place to do? Although it was supposed to help students get a better understanding of the criteria they are learning, Common Core has not helped students learn or compete with high performing countries because there is sufficient evidence in schools across the nation.
Separate But Unequal Essay
Segregation is the act or practice of setting groups of people apart from each based on the pigment of their skin, which is unjust and immoral. A man needs food, water, shelter, and medicine, regardless if they are black or white. In the United States after the Civil War, American society was segregated. Segregation of public places such as restaurants, buses, and schools were allowed. The separating of black and white has caused many problems in society and these inequalities are still felt today. Rebellion, revolution, boycotting and even riots, have led to tensions between the two races. Additionally, desegregating schools led to a learning gap between black and white students. The Constitution states that no state can make the law that takes away the rights and privileges of citizens making them immune to it. Desegregation of public places should be allowed because it is inequitable to separate humans based on the color or pigmentation of their skin.

Marcus Hung's Talking Circles Promote Equitable Discourse
In Marcus Hung’s article “Talking Circles Promote Equitable Discourse” the author talks about how he uses “talking circle” a structured discussion format to influence equitable student participation in his math class. As a math teacher he observed that during “Stratified classroom talk” or traditional whole-class discussions the majority of students who tend to volunteer and respond most frequently were students who were mathematically confident, and they were the same few students every time. Even in the small group discussions in his classroom Hung observed that most of the discussions were still done mainly by students who were mathematically confident. According to Hung, these discussion formats did not promote the equitable participation

Unit 1 Process Based Essay
The characteristics of insanity is shown through one's actions, such as them saying things they shouldn't or doing things that sane people wouldn't. This is a story about an insane man who is trying to convey the audience that he is not insane. In “The Tell-Tale Heart”, Edgar Allen Poe utilize symbolism and point of view to reveal that one's insanity can be characterized by their intellect and erratic actions.
Differentiation Theory In Learning
Stations or centers might be teacher-led if new knowledge is to be given or student-led if mastery is to be obtained on the information given by the teacher. Project-based is another strategy and one of the best ways to differentiate instruction due to the students’ needs and styles are addressed. Projects internalize help and support among students beside some academic skills. Tiered Activities, on the other hand, are based on the learning tasks designed at different levels of complexity according to students’ readiness levels, i.e. to be gradually given to the students ,whenever the student finishes one stage, they transfer to the other one until the task is done, or at times keeping the learning outcomes same the learning tasks can be designed according to students’ learning preferences viz. Learning styles or Gardner’s multiple intelligences.( Bigelow,1994;Onosko and Jorgensen ,1998;Lewis and Batts

Ap English Language Lesson Plan Essay
This lesson will be taught in a Pre-K ESE classroom with 19 students. They are between the ages of three to five years old. Nine of the children are developmentally delayed (with speech delays, ADHD, and/or Autistic tendencies). Two students are English language learners. 17 students are dual language learners.
Digital Divide Gap Analysis
Over the last few years we have seen many advances in technology. None are more evident than the changes we have seen in the classroom. For many years, classroom technology consisted of tools to help with teacher led instruction. Over the past few years, the shift has moved from teacher led to student centered learning. The same shift has occurred with educational technology.
Barriers In Classroom Communication
Cipline and tom: of the, School are the factors that influence the social. Environment of class-room. All these factors significantly influence the teaching-learning communication. Therefore, care shouldbe taken for their proper arrangement and control.
Reflection On Diversity And Diversity
All students deserve to be treated fairly as individuals. When considering the diversity of the class members, we will celebrate the uniqueness that the differences contribute. Because I have high expectations that all my children can be successful, adjustments may be necessary because everyone is not the same (Burden, 2017, p. 115). It is vital that a spirit of understanding and edification is active amongst the students and from the teacher (Romans 14:19, King James Version) to produce fruits of mutual respect: reduced bias, positive academic outcomes, enhanced problem solving, and healthy group dynamics (Cousik, 2015, p. 54). For differences that stem from culture, gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic status, the adjustments will involve bridging the cultural gap between the students’ diversity and the curriculum. For differences that result from cognitive abilities, learning styles, or developmental stages, the differentiation in delivery style and product styles support students’ academic, emotional, and social growth. Strategies that support diversity:

Example of research paper on factors affecting faculty recruiting and retaining in orthodontic program.
Orthodontic faculty was unavailable in most of the countries during the early periods of the twentieth century. In the United States, orthodontic was considered as a luxury. Later, the value of orthodontic treatment increased among the residents of the United States since most of the people started appreciating it. It is this appreciation of the treatment that consequently increased the need for orthodontic treatment. Therefore, the number of individuals who needed orthodontic services increased. This rise in number of individuals, who needed the orthodontic services, consequently resulted in the need for more specialists in this department.
